Rawrrrr!!!

Welcome to another edition of the Chewy Approved Podcast: The Blarrrggg!

This time around I am going to be talking to you about two Podcasts. The Sinners League and The Happy Rant Podcast!

For each, since this is the first yarrrghh time I have written on these particular Podcasts, I will give you my overall thoughts on the Podcasts then I will focus on a particular EP. Both of these Podcasts are favorites of mine and I am most excited to give you my thoughts on them.

As an aside… Blarrrggg means Blog… Thought you may be wondering… 😉
Also, did you know that my Bowcaster was made from the parts of a Stormtrooper’s blaster??? Yarghhh! The More you know and all! 😉

Let me first say, that I have mad respect for @Lex_Luthern and @XpCoulson!

Both of these brothers were among the first to interact with me when I started my Anon account.
As far as the Podcast goes…I love it! These guys are both gifted at talking theology and life, and then bringing it down to a real world perspective. They talk Gospel, they talk truth, and do it well! When I listen to podcasts, I find it easier to get sucked in when the people have a good banter. You know, make a funny while talking deep and good things. And I believe that this league o’ sinners does it well! Arrrghhh! Lex makes me laugh a lot!

Now on to the EP on Fatherhood.

These guys talk the roles of men. In fatherhood, and also being a godly husband. What I enjoy is that they literally just go through Ephesians 5 and talk about it. It encourages me to see this, rather than them just spouting opinion, they go right to God’s Word and use that as the basis and foundation for their talk.

I am a father of three wonderful kids, and what stood out to me and encouraged me was being encouraged by these brothers to pursue my kids and to raise them up in the faith. They wrestle with the serious call we as fathers have to step up and how a lot of fathers, including me at times, don’t do that. Listening definitely encouraged and spurred me on to be more aggressive with my kids as far as teaching them who God is. I recently bought a Catechism to go through with them, and I have begun to read them a chapter of Kevin DeYoung’s children book. Which is awesome. And this EP of Sinners League definitely encouraged and spurred me on to improve myself in that area. If you are a father you should give this EP a listen for sure!

The Happy Rant: Episode #78 – Andy Stanley on Small Churches, Settlers of Catan Evangelists, and Binge-Worthy TV Shows

Where can a Wookiee begin to talk about ol’ Happy Rant!

I started listening to this Podcast back when Stephen Altrogge was a host! Sad to hear about his addiction and about his time in rehab. Hope he returns soon! (As a side, that is a joke, he isn’t actually in rehab! Suppose you need to listen to Happy Rant to understand.)

The level of satire and humor on this show is amazing! If you have been a Christian long enough to have an understanding of the silliness that is American Evangelicalism then you will love this show. They also talk about sports a good deal. Of which I am not a big fan, but I also don’t mind listening to them talk about it, especially now that Ronnie is on there, being that he is not a big sports fan. Makes it even more fun to listen too. Overall, if you need a good laugh and want to listen to three dudes talk about what is going on in the world around you, then Happy Rant is the Rant for you!

On this particular EP of the Rant, Barnabas, Ted, and Ronnie talk about the current controversy over Andy Stanley, who made a statement about small churches and how they should be getting bigger or something. They explain it far better than that, so you should listen. Then they talk about the board game, Settlers of Catan. This is my favorite portion of this EP. I was laughing really good over it. They brought up a lot of really good points regarding the evangelists of Settlers. I smirked a good deal because I can relate—Yes, we have Settlers in Kashyyyk, it is very popular, and also causes a lot of family feuds, Wookiee’s don’t like to lose. All and all, the Happy Rant Podcast is an excellent pod and is worth your time. I imagine if you have a long commute, and you are looking to take a break from all the other excellent podcasts that are mostly serious in nature, and are looking to unwind and listen to satire at its finest, you will be in good hands with these guys!

In Conclusion

With all that said, this ends this portion of Chewy Approved Podcast: The Blarrrggg!

To close, here is some Scripture:

O God, you are my God; earnestly I seek you;
my soul thirsts for you;
my flesh faints for you,
as in a dry and weary land where there is no water.
2 So I have looked upon you in the sanctuary,
beholding your power and glory.
3 Because your steadfast love is better than life,
my lips will praise you.
4 So I will bless you as long as I live;
in your name I will lift up my hands.
5 My soul will be satisfied as with fat and rich food,
and my mouth will praise you with joyful lips,
6 when I remember you upon my bed,
and meditate on you in the watches of the night;
7 for you have been my help,
and in the shadow of your wings I will sing for joy.
8 My soul clings to you;
your right hand upholds me.
9 But those who seek to destroy my life
shall go down into the depths of the earth;
10 they shall be given over to the power of the sword;
they shall be a portion for jackals.
11 But the king shall rejoice in God;
all who swear by him shall exult,
for the mouths of liars will be stopped.
