After the Sermon: Episode 04 – Gun Free Zones, Obamacare, Despair, James White’s Distaste, and The Unbearded Reformer

Episode-04-Art

Overview

We start Episode 04 off with 10 seconds of silence to honor the soldiers who lost their lives in Chattanooga, Tennessee last week.

Our sermon clip of the week comes from Pastor Ken Wagstaff and Evening Two of our 11th Annual Summer Bible Conference. Ken spoke on “Forgotten Prayers” as he examined Jesus’ story of the rich man and Lazarus.

For our appetizers, we get things moving by discussing Gun Free Zones and the recent Chattanooga shooting. We also take a moment to thank some folks on Twitter for mentioning the podcast this past week. We also listen to our first ever voicemail from Calvinist Coulson!

Before jumping into our main topic, we took a quick listen to a promo video from Pastor Chris Vitarelli about the upcoming “Small Church Big Deal” conference that he and The Road Community Church will be hosting in October.

For our main topic, we take a look at a clip from Apologia TV’s recent interview with documentary film maker Colin Gunn. We focus in on two specific aspects of the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare) that concern Christians: Price Inflation and the funding of Risky Behavior that many believers consider sinful.

In our Theology Mix Feature, we turn our attention to an article from Calvinist Flash entitled Despair, Unworthiness and the Love of God.

Finally, we look at the Podcast world and I take issue with both Dr. James White and the Dividing Line as well as some of Pastor Jeff Durbin’s comments on the Reformed Pubcast when he served as a guest host in Episode 84!
