Your 100 Day Prayer: Day 63 – Behind the Scenes

behind

For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground and after you have done everything, to stand.
–Ephesians 6:12-13

Paul describes God’s armor in verses 14-18: “Stand therefore, having girded your loins with truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod your feet with the equipment of the gospel of peace; besides all these, taking the shield of faith, with which you can quench all the flaming darts of the evil one. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.” What a comfort it is to know we have God’s armor to wear for protection against the evil making havoc in this world today!

Dr. Snyder: “This passage flies directly in the face of what most modern, ‘enlightened’ people who don’t believe in evil think about the world and its problems. It also sheds light on why we pray. If all our struggles were simply against humans and all their plots and schemes, then we could oppose them with plots and schemes even more clever than theirs. It would be just a matter of who had the best strategy.

“….When we’re praying, we can’t afford to forget that behind the physical world, behind the human and earthly, are the principalities and powers pulling the strings. These spiritual forces are too strong for any of us no matter how spiritual we think we are, but they’re no match for the Holy Spirit, our advocate and defender.

So whatever it is we’re bringing before God in petition or intercession, let’s do so by putting on the whole armor of God so that, when the day of evil comes, we will be able to stand our ground.”

TODAY’S PRAYER: Are you confused about what is happening to you? Do you feel like you’re walking around in a fog? Then pray, pray, pray. And pray some more. Ask God to give you the wisdom to discern the spirits that are creating this confusion and to burn away the fog that is penetrating your mind. Pray for the Holy Spirit to protect and shield you and your loved ones.
