Your 100 Day Prayer: Day 38 – Don’t Be Afraid

fear

For I am the Lord, your God, who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear; I will help you. -Isaiah 41:13

Can you remember a time when you were afraid and your father took you by the hand, and when you heard his reassuring voice, the fear melted away? The same thing is true, even more so, when our heavenly father speaks to us, takes our hand, and tells us he will help us.

Dr. Snyder says: “The sole grounds for our fearlessness is nothing but the powerful presence of God. He imparts his own fearlessness to us only as we are in relationship to him. If we want nothing to do with his presence or help, then we’ll never know what it’s like to walk through the valleys hand in hand with our Creator, instead of frightened and alone.

If we try to fix things on our own or move ahead under our own steam, we discover that the wind is just too strong and the way is too steep for us. It’s typical of us humans to underestimate the power of the storm and overestimate our own resources in getting through it. One of the chief lessons we learn in life is that we are not the stand-alone pillars of strength we thought we were and that we desperately need a helper who is willing to take us by the hand and guarantee us the strength we need to get through every trial. So let’s continue to pray and confidently walk forward with our hand firmly in his.”

TODAY’S PRAYER: Don’t be hesitant to say to God today, “I’m afraid. Draw me closer to you.”
