Your 100 Day Prayer: Day 77 – Death Is Dead

I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies; and whoever lives and believes in me will never die.
–John 11:25-26

Dr. Snyder tells us that death and the fear of it have reigned from the very beginning of human history to the present day. But as believers, death no longer reigns over us because Jesus defeated the final enemy on the cross and in his resurrection.

He explains further:

”If the very worst thing that can happen to us has been defeated and overruled, then what about all the lesser things we worry about and dread? How many days or years do we spend in anxiety and fear of all the smaller things in life? If Jesus said that all this is a total waste of time and produces nothing positive, let’s get rid of it—today.

“When we stop worrying about the smaller things, we come to a strong confidence and trust in God for a final, wonderful wrap-up specifically because he grants to us the many ‘little resurrections’ in this life. He demonstrates his resurrection power through the numerous rescues, reversals, and deliverances we experience from now until the final rescue.

“What he wants us to learn from these ‘pre-resurrections’ is that from the perspective of the resurrection, all fear, all anxiety, and all despair are absolutely unrealistic.”

TODAY’S PRAYER: If you have cast aside your anxieties but are suddenly overwhelmed again by the desperateness of your situation, then toss them aside once more. Ask God to rid your mind of every negative and hopeless thought and feeling, and trust him to bring you to a joyful peace.
