Munich is magical again!
I just finished a meeting and found myself amid the hustle and bustle of the Christmas markets at Marienplatz. The city center was buzzing with light and laughter, bringing to mind that “Christmas now is drawing near at Hand, Serve the Lord, and be at his Command.”
Bright as the lights are, for many, this may be the first season of darkness brought by the loss of a loved one, war, separation, divorce, loneliness, health, or financial difficulties. Believers have an incredible opportunity to share their dinner table with others or invite them to worship and meet new friends, particularly during this season. Expats are more prone to feel isolated, depressed, or hopeless as they miss the traditional, warm holiday festivities with family back home.
As we enter this Advent season of hope, join in this season’s joyful celebrations and invite those in need of a warm welcome and friendship to your home or church.
Christmas is a time of restoration and hope. Let’s renew our commitment to Jesus—the majestic King and Lord of history. May God transform us into humble, caring, others-focused, encouraging disciples. Let us pray in his name for the courage to share his message of hope and contentment with others who desperately need his light and power to transform their lives.
We can expect miracles because of Jesus—Emmanuel, God with us!
