Patty Luellen Nicholas has worked at the Billy Graham Training Center at the Cove for 12 years, but she truly learned about grace when she lost both her husband and her father, two days apart. It was during this time that the words in 2 Corinthians 12:9-12 spoke volumes: And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in needs, in persecutions, in distresses, for Christ’s sake. For when I am weak, then I am strong.”
She has experienced God’s grace in so many ways through her grief journey and beyond. Even though grief is a part of her testimony, it does not define her. She loves to share with others through her speaking and writing ministry, how in Christ we no longer have to be defined by the pain and ugly names we call ourselves. In Christ we have a new identity, as children of the One True King.
Patty is a mother to two beautiful daughters, and “Nana” to a wonderful grandson. She lives in the mountains of scenic North Carolina.
