It’s easy to forget that the Bible we read, translated in so many different languages today, has its roots firmly in the Jewish tradition. The Old Testament was written primarily in Hebrew, and the New Testament, written in Greek was heavily influenced by the language and concepts of the Hebrew world.
To overlook this is to guarantee that we won’t truly understand the Bible. Today’s guest, Dr. Eli Lizorkin-Eyzenberg, has dedicated his life to making sure we don’t make this mistake. He is head of the Israel Institute of Biblical Studies and the Israel Bible Center.
Dr. Eli Lizorkin-Eyzenberg comes to us today with credentials from Stellenbosch University, Reformed Theological Seminary, with post-doctoral studies at the University of Pennsylvania, Leiden University, Princeton Theological Seminary, and Hebrew University of Jerusalem. He has authored 11 books in his field.
