For no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ.
–1 Corinthians 3:11
Have you experienced the aftermath of a tornado? Not much is left standing, right? However, did you notice what was still there? The foundation! Dr. Snyder discusses another kind of foundation:
“So here’s the good news: We don’t have to create our own foundation. It’s not up to us to support ourselves or sustain our own faith; it’s not even totally up to us to remain faithful to God. It’s God who lays the foundation, it’s God who gives us the gift of faith, and it’s God who hangs on to us and brings faith back when it fades, disappears, or is blown away in one of life’s perfect storms.
“Our faith is solid because our foundation is solid. It’s based on the truth of Jesus’ resurrection and backed by the gold of God’s trustworthy character. We don’t fear for the future because God will be the same reliable and faithful God tomorrow as he is today.”
TODAY’S PRAYER: Do you feel that your faith flowed out with the last ebb tide? Then consider this truth that your faith is built on the foundation that is Jesus Christ. Thank God now that nothing can truly destroy your faith or separate you from him.
