Your 100 Day Prayer: Day 16 – Wait in Hope

“We wait in hope for the Lord, he is our help and our shield. In him our hearts rejoice, for we trust in his holy name.”
-Psalm 33:20-21

As we continue with the 100 Day Prayer, we, too, are waiting and hoping. But are we waiting and hoping in the same way the psalmist is? Dr. Snyder explains what the psalmist is saying in this verse:

“The psalmist waits, but he waits for a sure thing. The word hope in the Bible doesn’t mean what most of us mean when we use it. It carries with it the sense not of ‘I sure hope so,’ but rather,’I know that my expectation won’t be disappointed.’ What the psalmist waits for in absolute unwavering surety is not that God will give him the new toy du jour but that God will grant the need of the day—help in the time of danger or need and shelter from the storm.”

TODAY’S PRAYER: Ask that God grant such an overwhelming sense of his sufficiency for the day that you’ll be able to rest in the unshakable confidence (hope) that whatever he gives you will be the right and best thing.
