Your 100 Day Prayer: Day 42 – No Fear

fear

The Lord is my light and my salvation—whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life—of whom shall I be afraid? -Psalm 27:1

Have you ever been driving down the highway with big, dark clouds overhead and it keeps getting darker and more ominous when all of a sudden the sun breaks through the clouds and there is light and feeling of relief? That’s what this verse reminds me of—with God’s light there is nothing to fear. Dr. Snyder also points out that David and other heroes in the Bible had to face all the same frailties we do and that they were just like the rest of us. He goes us to say:

“That’s good news for us. It means that mercy and salvation are for us, too, that all God’s gifts are offered to the worst of us as well as the best. God wants to be our light and salvation—our light through the darkness, our guide through the wilderness, and our salvation in this life and the next. And if we know that God is right by our side through everything we experience, guiding us into a future he has already seen, we really have nothing to fear.”

TODAY’S PRAYER: Pray that God will make his strength and power as real and near today as the psalmist came to see. Let God remind you that fear is simply unrealistic.
