Your 100 Day Prayer: Day 24 – Who’s Behind It?

unfailing

“For men are not cast off by the Lord forever. Though he brings grief, he will show compassion, so great is his unfailing love. For he does not willingly bring affliction or grief to the children of men.”
-Lamentations 3:31-33

The question of the day: Why does God allow bad things happen to good people?

Dr. Snyder explains: “So there’s a huge gulf separating God from Satan, good from evil, but God can still bring us grief and affliction whenever it contributes in some way to our redemption or spiritual growth. It’s due to our fallen state that this is even necessary…

“But what we can be sure of is that it’s never his first desire to bring us affliction or distress, but he’s more than willing to do so if it leads to our maturity or salvation. And that’s the only reason it comes our way. Even if it comes as a form of judgment, it’s still there with a motive of redemption. And there’s the good news. We can remain positive and joyful even in the midst of affliction and suffering, whatever forms they take because our welfare is behind them.”

TODAY’S PRAYER: Do you think that bad things are happening to you because God is angry and is judging you for something? Pray that the Holy Spirit will enlighten your mind with the truth that, since he chose you for his own, whatever he permits to come your way is for your good.
